What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


Backups

Backups of our website files and database are created and stored on the hosts server and remotely using Google. Archives can include, but are not limited to, file and database assets, including hashed passwords, 3rd party data, uploads and user information. These backups are stored to provide critical functionality for the restoration of our website. Review Google’s Privacy Policy here.

Our backup plugin tracks dates, times and actions of successful and unsuccessful backups and remote data transfers. This is stored to help make the plugin better and assist with troubleshooting problems.


Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

WP Optimize sends images to development servers to optimize them for web use. This includes the transfer of EXIF data. The EXIF data will either be stripped or returned as it is. It is not stored on the development servers.

WP Optimize uses a third-party email service (Drip) to send informational emails to the site administrator. The administrator’s email address is sent to Drip and a cookie is set by the service. Only administrator information is collected by Drip.


Contact forms

This website uses contact forms. The data you submit is delivered via email and is not stored on the website. We will use the data collected in these forms only to provide the requested service. Some forms on this site collect data that share some data third-party services, namely Mailchimp. Mailchimp’s privacy policy can be reviewed, here. We will use the data collected in these forms only to provide the requested service. Unless further allowances have been given, the information gathered from these forms is not used for purposes beyond the information, service, etc that has been requested.


Communications

Where it is in accordance with your preferences, we may use your Personal Data to contact you in the future to communicate news and information, including without limitation, to inform you about services or events we believe might be of interest to you. You can “opt out” of receiving these electronic communications by clicking on the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any such electronic communication or emailing wendy@wendyonline.com

When the user signs up for these services, we will share names or other contact information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. Also, we share your data with partners who help us provide and improve our products and/or services as follows. We also impose strict restrictions on how our partners/vendors can use and disclose the data we provide. Your information is likely to be available to various extent to those who support our business (and their subcontractors) including:

  • Our web developers (access only)
  • Technical infrastructure hosts (data)
  • Our advertising and/or newsletter providers (data including email addresses)
  • Our online payment service (data)
  • Email provider (data)
  • Analytics provider (anonymous data) – Google Analytics, etc.


How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.


What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Wherever we collect sensitive information, that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the Web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline.  The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment. 

This website uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to ensure your details are encrypted and securely communicated to us, safe from prying eyes or malicious threats. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a protocol for enabling data encryption on the Internet and for helping website users confirm the owner of the website.

What data breach procedures we have in place

This website is regularly swept for malware and consistently updates its plugins and themes. We receive daily reports of all attempted logins and access. Some customer data is stored directly on this website (see section above regarding contact forms); however, WordPress provides data erasure. We do not import SEO data into this website but maintain SEO data using only Google Analytics.


What we collect and store

We collect information about you during the checkout process via PayPal.  Please read the privacy policy for PayPal to understand their individual use of your data.

When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number and credit card/payment details. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

  • Send you information about your account and order
  • Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
  • Process payments and prevent fraud
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • Improve our store offerings
  • Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them

We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses.

We will also store comments or reviews, if you choose to leave them.


Who on our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both Administrators can access:

  • Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.


What we share with others

We share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person.
